Our Mission to Spread Down Syndrome Awareness

More than soap. A mission to spread Down syndrome awareness, celebrate differences, and give back to a community that means so much to our family.

Down Syndrome Awareness Through Kindness & Giving Back

At Nature Inspired, our mission goes beyond soap. Inspired by our son, Nolan, we’re passionate about spreading Down syndrome awareness, celebrating differences, and giving back to a community that means so much to our family. We believe kindness can make a lasting difference, and even a small business can be part of something bigger. Through every bar we make, we hope to create meaningful conversations, encourage greater understanding and acceptance, and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families through our partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW).

Three Arrows & Trisomy 21: The Meaning Behind Our Symbol

Every bar of Nature Inspired soap is hand-stamped with our tree symbol, rooted in our love of nature and given a deeper meaning by Nolan. The three arrows represent the three copies of chromosome 21 in Trisomy 21, or Down syndrome, and symbolize strength, growth, and moving forward.

Our hope is that each time someone reaches for a new bar of soap and peels back the label, that little tree becomes a reminder—to spread kindness, celebrate differences, and see the beauty in every person. In that small way, every bar helps carry our mission of Down syndrome awareness a little further.

Giving Back to the Down Syndrome Community

Spreading Down syndrome awareness is only part of our mission—we also want to make a meaningful difference for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. That’s why Nature Inspired is proud to partner with the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) and donate 3% of all bar soap sales to support their work.

DSAW provides programs, resources, education, and opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout Wisconsin. By choosing a Nature Inspired bar, you’re not only supporting our small family business—you’re helping us give back to a community that holds a very special place in our hearts.

Our Connection to the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin

The Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) has held a special place in our family’s story since Nolan was little. Not long after he was born, we found ourselves at our first DSAW Down Syndrome Awareness Walk at the Milwaukee County Zoo in 2016. Surrounded by other families, we found something we deeply needed in those early days—connection, encouragement, and a community that understood the journey we were beginning.

Over the years, DSAW has continued to be part of our lives, and those early experiences are a big part of why giving back through Nature Inspired means so much to us today. Our partnership is more than a donation; it’s a way for our family and our small business to support an organization and community that supported us.

These photos are from some of Nolan’s early years at DSAW’s Down Syndrome Awareness Walks.

Growing Our Impact

Since partnering with DSAW in 2025, every bar of soap sold has helped us give back to a community that means so much to our family.”We donated $250 in our first year, and we’re hoping to exceed $300 in 2026. It may start small, but as Nature Inspired grows, we hope our impact will keep growing too.

Where Your Support Goes: Down Syndrome Programs & Resources

Our partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) helps support their mission to provide individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities—and their families—with the resources, programs, and opportunities they need to thrive.

From supporting new and expectant parents to education, employment, community programs, family resources, and opportunities for connection, DSAW works alongside individuals and families through every stage of life.

We’re proud that our mission to spread kindness can help support the meaningful work they do throughout Wisconsin.

Crazy mismatched socks for World Down Syndrome Day and Down syndrome awareness

Down Syndrome Awareness & Crazy Socks

Why the crazy socks? Each year on March 21, people around the world wear colorful and mismatched socks to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day and help spark conversations about Down syndrome awareness.

Chromosomes, when pictured under a microscope and arranged in pairs, have a shape that can resemble little socks. Down syndrome, also called Trisomy 21, occurs when a person has three copies of chromosome 21. That’s also why World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on 3/21 — representing three copies of the 21st chromosome.

So grab your brightest, silliest, most mismatched pair and join in! It’s a simple, fun way to start a conversation, celebrate differences, and help spread Down syndrome awareness.

Together, we can spread a little more kindness.

Thank you for supporting our mission, celebrating differences, and helping us give back to the Down syndrome community.
